Twic Mayardit Community and the Greater Bahr-El-Ghazal Peace Committee recently came together for a peace consultative dialogue in Juba, with a primary focus on understanding the root causes of conflicts within the local populace.

Reflecting on the discussions, Retired Rev Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration in nation-building. He stated, “It’s easy to solve conflicts when we come together as one people. As South Sudanese, we strive to build a nation where all communities in the Greater Bahr Ghazal Region can coexist harmoniously in peace and love.”

Hon. Dr. Majok Yak, MP of TNLA representing the Twic Mayardit Parliamentary caucus, emphasized the need to address longstanding conflicts within the Ngok community. He acknowledged that these disputes have hindered free movement and caused frustration among the people. Dr. Majok expressed confidence in the ongoing peace initiatives led by Hon Dr Riak Gai, believing that they hold the potential to yield positive outcomes.

Dr. Majok Yak urged both the Twic Mayardit and Ngok communities to prioritize peace and work towards resolving their differences. He highlighted the importance of revisiting and implementing the four key points outlined by the President, emphasizing the cessation of hostility, ensuring free movement of people, ending buffer zones, and closely monitoring ceasefire agreements.

The dialogue serves as a significant step towards fostering understanding, reconciliation, and peaceful coexistence among the communities involved, reflecting a shared commitment to building a more united and harmonious society in South Sudan.
